Continuing his work on behalf of veterans ahead of Memorial Day weekend, Alabama Senator Luther Strange on Friday announced his co-sponsorship of S. 765, the Private Corrado Piccoli Purple Heart Preservation Act, to establish penalties for the unauthorized sale of the Purple Heart, a military decoration earned by thousands of Alabamians. The bipartisan bill has received the support of more than 40 veterans organizations.

"Of the brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform, too many carry physical reminders of their sacrifice. Our recognition and gratitude must be guaranteed, and reaffirmed in the award of the Purple Heart, and S. 765 will ensure that no price is placed on the significance of this decoration. During Memorial Day weekend, let us each renew our commitment to honoring the sacrifices of our veterans."
